BearCanisterOK answers one question: will the canister I own be accepted where I am going?
The problem
Rules for bear canisters live on dozens of land-manager pages, in different formats, with different lists. A canister approved in one park can be refused in the next.
What we did
We read the official pages for 64 areas, wrote each rule down in plain words, and matched 45 canister models against the lists and standards. 58 areas and 30 models have pages.
How we show it
Every verdict carries a status, the date we checked, and a link to the source. Where we are unsure, we say so and use a status that says so.
Who we are
BearCanisterOK is published by Dov Nudelman. It is an independent site with no tie to a manufacturer or land manager. How we are paid, and how we handle corrections, is on the editorial policy.
